Ice Bar Sydney

Ice Bar Sydney (formerly Minus 5) at Circular Quay in Sydney has reopened under new management and we were asked to complete a refurbishment of the ice bar. To create the walls alone took a massive 130 blocks (15 tonnes) of crystal clear ice and several weeks to create and install. To make the ice walls more of a feature we added snow-filled images to them which included snowflakes, the ice bars logo and iconic Australian images such as kangaroos and the Opera House, providing the perfect backdrop for visitors to have their photos taken against.

An 8ft high ice chandelier made up of over 60 individual hand carved ice pieces was also included in the refurbishment. More pieces are currently being made which will keep the ice bar new and exciting for patrons.

Ice Bar Sydney is now open 7 days a week from 12pm till late, with admission costing just $30 which also includes a cocktail. For more information visit www.icebarsydney.com.au or call 9251 0311.

Samsung Mobile Installations

Over the past year we have been proud to work with Jack Morton and Samsung Mobile on creating large scale ice installations for the launch of their new touch phones. The first sculpture we created in June 2009 at Parrarmatta Westifeld was a massive 2m x 2m x 1.5m sculpture which required it's own Megadeck staging structure to sit on as the sculpture  weighed a whopping 2 tonnes. The sculpture featured dummy versions of the phones which were frozen into the ice blocks. The public were able to attempt to melt out the phones giving them a chance to win a real version of the phone. The sculpture was on display from Thursday until the Sunday evening when at 5pm as the centre was shutting the last phone of removed by one lucky person.

Due to the success of this sculpture we were commissioned to create 10 smaller versions which went into 5 shopping centres in NSW and VIC. The sculptures lasted from Friday to Sunday and again drew large crowds to the display where staff were on hand to provide people with further information and demonstrations of the new phones. Mammoth Ice were in charge of not only creating the ice sculptures but also the large plinths which they sat on as well as the application of decals and transport, setup and takedown of the sculptures. Mammoth Ice staff were also on hand to monitor the sculptures.

The Boost Mobile Surf Sho which was presented by Samsung Mobile on the 12th-14th March presented another chance for Samsung Mobile to create an interactive sculpture which would engage the huge crowds which descended on Bondi Beach. For this sculpture we were up against the elements as the sculpture was to be placed on Bondi Beach. Using a large fork lift which could traverse the sand, 2 tonnes of ice were delivered to a small staging area where we erected the sculpture. The sculpture remained on the beach from Friday to Sunday, with plenty of ice still remaining at the end of the event.

Ice Age 3 DVD Launch

The first day of summer in 2009 saw iconic Bondi Beach turned into a modern ice age for 20th Century Fox's launch of Ice Age 3 on DVD and Blu-Ray. For the launch we created an 8ft high Christmas tree which featured DVDs frozen into the ice. We also created several Nova 96.9 logo sculptures which along with characters from the film, a 4m snow toboggan and 8 tonnes of snow created the arctic landscape. Live crosses from Channel 7's Sunrise program also helped to promote the event.

For further press we also created several ice DVD blocks which also featured the movie's logo which  where delivered to various TV and radio outlets in their own drip trays along with press releases.

G Shock- Shock the World Tour

Thursday 19th November 2009 saw Sydney host the exclusive G-Shock: Shock the World Tour at Carriageworks in Redfern. The event was hosted by fashion guru Jonathan Pease and saw over 1000 guests come along to celebrate the event. The night saw special guest appearances by the Japanese engineer Kiku Ibe who designed the first ever G-Shock watch along with various musical acts and as well as an ice sculpture which had 12 of the new watches frozen into it which was later carved up, with lucky guests winning their very own limited edition watch.

We worked with Peer Group Media to design a sculpture which featured a replica of the watch face sitting on a large ice base which had the watches frozen into it. The carving took around 30 minutes and provided a great source of entertainment for the guests.

 Bonds Eskimo Hoodies

In 2009 we were commissioned to create an ice throne which was to be used in the Bonds Eskimo Hoodies print ad campaign. Working with Sam I Am we settled on this design which was carved at our factory before taken to the photoshoot where it was reassembled and ready for the shoot. Our staff were on hand for the days shoot with dry ice and carving equipment to touch up the sculpture as needed.

Mammoth Ice & Sister Company on  Big Brother

In 2007 Mammoth Ice in conjunction with sister company Mammoth Ice Bars were invited to create a mobile ice room for television's Big Brother.

The room which is 20ft by 20ft was chilled down to a cold -10 degrees and once rugged up against the chilly temperatures, selected housemates were able to enter the room as a reward from Big Brother.

We created all of the walls from ice along with a 2 metre bar, food service stations, ice seats and tables. An air hockey table and chocolate fountain were also brought in to enhance their experience! The ice room ran for 1 week with ratings over 1,000,000 viewers.

Ministry Of Sound Chillout Classics

In December 06, we were pleased to be able to work on the artwork for the new Ministry of Sound Chillout Classics album. For this project we created an ice version of the Ministry of Sound logo which was filmed over 8 hours to capture the beauty of the block of ice melting. The ice logo was designed to keep with the association of ice for the Chillout series which have previously featured dj decks frozen in ice.

The sculpture features on the television ads, print ads and on the 3 disc CD packaging.

2004 & 2006 ARIA Awards

In both 2004 & 2006 we created the table centrepieces for the ARIA Awards which are held at Acer Arena in Homebush. 2004 saw us create 100 centrepieces which featured both a 3D replica of the award as well and space to accomodate two bottle of wine, making the sculpture both decorative and functional.
In 2005 we created 200 centrepieces which featured the award in a snow-fill style. Each of the sculptures had LED lighting units in the base to help illuminate the sculptures and to enable them to be seen in all of the crowd shots. With just 1 hour to set up all sculptures it was quite a task but we were unbeaten on both years!

2005 Lord Mayor's Ball
In 2005 we were proud to be asked to work on the Governor's New Years Eve Ball which is held annually at the Sydney Opera House. For the event we created an 1800mm ice bar, along with ice vases and a giant 2m high seahorse.

"There is no doubt that the level of commitment and professionalism you provided galvanised a team and together we presented an outstanding result for Sydney-siders, visitors and indeed the world. For 2005 we embarked on an ambitious program both operationally and creatively and the results achieved have exceeded everyone's expectations."
